The participants of the PILLAI/FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Sports Management had a unique opportunity to listen to Mr. Sebastian Rubio, C.E.O of ZSPORTS Peru over an online lecture on 5th March 2022. Mr. Rubio is also the Media Officer at CONMEBOL and the Director at the British Peruvian Association. He is the CIES Representative Peru & International Guest Speaker at CIES-Centre International d’Etude du Sport.
Mr Rubio spoke about the topic “Innovation as the New Marketing in Sports.” The session began by the introduction to the new age of sports and different current trends that follow. Mr Sebastian then went deeper into the meaning behind the topic, he analysed that the new age of sports includes time limited content, multi tasking audience, distributing sport content online, to creating match like simulation through gaming.
Mr Rubio also introduced how Sponsorships can affect the return on investment. It was a very interesting topic from the participant’s point of view. They understood the importance of how exclusive content, value added experience, digital and social media amplifications are the union of the audience benefits, sponsors & sports objectives. It was an interactive session with participants asking a lot of questions which were well articulated and answered by Mr. Rubio.
