Expert Speaker – Ms. Honey Thaljieh, Public Relations Manager at FIFA and the Co-Founder of Women’s Football in Palestine
The participants of the 6th edition of the PILLAI/FIFA CIES International Programme in Sports Management had a CIES conference on “Communication Strategies at FIFA” by Honey Thaljieh, Public Relations Manager at FIFA and the Co-founder of Women’s Football in Palestine on 2nd March, 2025. Ms. Thaljieh is a FIFA Master and the Captain of the first-ever Women’s National Team in Palestine.
Ms. Thaljieh started the session by sharing her impressive and impactful journey beginning with her childhood, and her love for football leading her to start a revolution in her country with respect to women’s football. She also spoke about how she became the Brand Ambassador of Athletic Club Bilbao. The conference then veered towards the communication strategies at FIFA.
The FIFA employs a comprehensive and multi-layered communication strategy to engage global audiences, stakeholders, and fans. Central to its approach is the use of digital platforms, including social media, official websites, and mobile applications, which provide real-time updates, match coverage, and interactive content. FIFA ensures consistent brand messaging through strategic storytelling, highlighting values such as unity, diversity, and fair play. Overall, FIFA’s communication strategy reflects a balance between innovation, transparency, and global inclusivity, strengthening its position as a leading sports organization.
She said it was encouraging to see more women becoming a part of this big ecosystem, even though the numbers are small the participation of women is growing. She elaborated on the various campaigns, especially for women led by FIFA, and how she is a part of it.
The session was very insightful and had a motivational impact on the participants.
