Dubbed the Greatest Show on Earth, the Olympic Games provide for a spectacle unmatched by any other sporting event. The sheer scale of operations, bringing the world’s best sportspersons into one nation for just about a fortnight, is humungous. The Games of the 32nd Olympiad in Tokyo expect over 11,090 athletes from 206 nations participating in 339 events!<\/p>\nThe current pandemic crisis has shaken the world like never before. As it spread to almost every part of the globe and nations reacted with lockdowns, there was a serious question mark over the conduct of the 2020 edition of the Games in Tokyo. However, the IOC responded by postponing the Olympics by a year to July 2021. This change might seem small to many but the complications arising from it are unimaginable. Never before has an Olympic games been postponed like this.<\/p>\n
