It was an honour to have Mr. Pierre Ducrey, the Olympic Games Associate Director of the prestigious International Olympic Committee – IOC as a speaker for the 2nd PILLAI/FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Sports Management Conference on the 10th of November 2019. Mr. Ducrey has been part of the IOC for the past 16 years and has worked in the Management of the various Olympic Games over the years. He obtained his FIFA Masters in Sports Management, Sports Law & Sports Humanities in 2003 and an MA in International Relations a year prior.
The students were able to learn a great deal from the talk and were all very highly appreciative of the conference. They were able to get a glimpse of the enormous amount of work that needs to be done to organize the world’s biggest sporting event. The students were also intrigued to learn about the new practices followed by the IOC to make the Olympic Games more sustainable and efficient for the host cities. Mr. Ducrey also highlighted some of the initiatives planned for the Tokyo Olympics to increase Fan engagement during the games.
This was the first time that Mr. Ducrey had traveled to one of the centers of the FIFA/CIES University Network and we are truly grateful to him for taking time out of his busy schedule in Switzerland to come and spend a day with us at Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research.
